How can I sync two PCs using a USB cable?

I’m looking for a wire interface between two pcs (laptop and desktop) to temporarily share files. I can’t use wireless in this office and my laptop lacks a parallel and serial port.
I’d like to see each computer’s harddisk as an external drive.
Can I use a male to male USB cable connected to each computer?
