PostHeaderIcon Is it possible to run an Apache web server on a USB thumb drive STAND-ALONE, on a Windows desktop?

dkersey asked:

I want to be able to have a “portable” web site, to do demos on PCs without having to install or configure the PC. I know I can install to the USB drive, keep configuration file on the drive, and store pages, but what about the “service”? anything else? Alternatives?

You can find XAMPP online at

XAMPP is an integrated server package of Apache, mySQL, PHP and Perl (the AMPP in XAMPP) that all run from a removable drive. Everything is pre-configured and ready to go just by unzipping or installing it.
