add up more ram say 512mb . you will find lot of difference
Upgrade to Pentium 4 or 64-bit AMD processors. The latter, however, may require some more time-testing. By the way, how are you running Windows XP Pro on a P-III processor?
No, you have PLENTY of RAM, it IS the CPU, look, youre using a Pentium 3, that is 1.0 GHz. RAM does NO good if you dont have a processor that can handle the tasks. Now, it may not be your CPU at all, maybe some recent hardware/software changes caused it, after all, you said in the past couple of weeks. If you still want to up your processor performance, I reccomend overclocking, or upgrading to a new CPU.
Use Norton SystemWorks. It can diagnose, fix and speed up your pc.
While you are running an older processor, you should have suffiecent system resources to be able to run most applications. You may have too many programs running at your startup which will rob your system of needed memory and cpu resources. Spyware can also affect your system performance. You can download Adaware from Lavasoft.com and remove any spyware contained in your system. Your windows registry may contain errors in it, you can download a fully functional trial copy of Tuneup Utilities which has several useful utilities on diagnosing and repairing regisrty errors. It also contains utilities for boosting system performance. It can be downloaded at Tuneup.com. Also defragmenting your hard drive could help increase the performance of your system as well. Good Luck
If the pc goes slow only when opening or loading the file(s) then, most probabilly the antivirus is scanning your document for virus, before letting the wordprocessor to open it.
