desktop pcs
Hal was a Spectrum ZX asked:

As far as I know, Tablet PC is like a laptop but with other flexible features but I do not see many people with Table PCs and I do not see that is sold as well as the laptops.
Do you know why in particular?
Does it need more time to start to see people buying tablet PCs? do they have any disadvantage that makes table PC be less sold?

Would be interesting to see opinions about this.
Thanks in advance.

Same question was posed by top techies 10 years ago.

I doubt it. Interface programmers may come up with a new and better way to communicate with hardware. We used to have punch cards, keyboards, now mostly mice. In the near future we may have something easier.

No.Because desktops and laptops have some advantages versus tablets.

since the 60’s, Computers went from 1-4 ton behemoths that took up several HUNDRED square foot of area to a 1-3 POUND computer you can carry like a notebook to a few ounce device you carry on your belt hoop! to embedded technologies in places you wouldn’t think were computers.

WiMax will proliferate the globe! this will allow you to do just about anything you want, when you want and WHERE you want. Devices will shrink to wearable size and eventually….the large format screens which are keeping the systems the size they are will blur into integration with the human eye and clothing……….

in 20 years…..I think that everyone’s computer in what ever form will be part of a planetary computing grid which will allow processors to slow down because you can take advantage ot parallel computing ….if you need extra computational power, the guy/girl next to you who is NOT using their device will help you out by allowing you to tap into a grid of processing power unthinkable today.
