i’m a long time pc user but i want to make the switch to mac. i don’t like laptops so i would want a mac that is a desktop version. how much should i expect to pay for it? are desktop macs much more expensive than desktop pcs? any input is greatly appreciated. i just want to have an idea of how much i should expect to spend and if it is worth making the switch. thank you very much!

The going rate for the basic Mac “PC” (not the laptops) is around $2800. For that much you get a way better PC with top of the line features.

iMac is a pretty good deal.. Price-performance wise macs and PCs are pretty similar. Mac support is also better than most PC companies like HP and Lenovo. When you compare hardware, Macs are not much more expensive so if you’re wanting a Mac, go for it!
Just one word of caution: try not to buy hardware upgrades through Apple because they’ll charge an arm and a leg.. If you know someone who’s got solid technical skills, they should be able to upgrade the RAM and hard drive with ease and you’ll save money.
As someone who builds desktop PCs as a hobby, I used to believe that self-built PCs are the best option for everyone but I have come to realize that is not true. Building your own rig can be a pain in the *** and most average consumers out there don’t want to deal with RMAs and such..
That said, the ONLY companies I would consider buying from is Apple and Lenovo (only if it’s a Thinkpad)

Macs are overpriced with crappy hardware. You can’t really upgrade their hardware like you can with a pc. A computer with the same hardware as a mac would probably be a little cheaper, minus the windows operating system. Since you said PC I’m assuming you don’t just mean windows buts possibly linux in which case you wouldn’t pay for the OS.

All mac desktops are at least $599, but they really are worth it. I have a macbook and I have never regretted switching. If there are some programs that aren’t available for mac, you can always install windows on your mac and use them that way. The cheapest mac is the mac mini for 599, but it doesn’t come with anything. Only the computer itself, so its worth getting if you already have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The next up is the imac which is $1,199 and comes with everything.

well the minnium you should expect to pay is $1200 for a mac desk top or you could get a mac monitor and a mac mini for 600 each equaling 1200 or you could get a diffrent monitor 22 in or smaller but a diffrent brand for 200 up to 350 but in the long run i wouldnt get a mac mini and a apple monitor and go for the imac with out the hassel of all those cord. or you could get the mab book for 1000. And to answer your question expect to pay about 400 bucks more for a mac then a pc (including monitor, speekers, key board and mouse)
HOPE THAT HELPS!
imac
mini
apple monitor
HP monitor (this is a great monitor!) 22in $350
hp monitor 19in $240
hp monitor 17in $200
HP 24in! $500
