Hi, I have 3 desktop computers. 2 Desktop PCs are wireless (with PCI network cards) and the 3rd is Wired. The wired PC is runnning xp along with one of the wireless PCs. The other wireless PC is running vista.
Currently I can’t share files or printers among any of them. How can I file share among them? I have selected what folders to share but the other pcs don’t appear on the network map. I have downloaded the tool for xp pcs to connect to vista pcs.
help.
I have a router, all computers can connect to the internet, the 2 wireless used to be able to connect with each other but now they can’t. Please don’t be overly complicated, i’m not good at networking. Is there a guide for this?

you need to setup user accounts on all 3 systems….
Forget ALL the downloaded tools. All the networking tools are part of the Windows OS. I assume you have a router. If so all the tcp/ip configuration is automatic, but you need to go to the tcp/ip properties of each machine, select advanced, then wins and set Always use netbios over tcp/ip. Also turn OFF use LMHOSTS. MS in their far superior knowledge of what is required on networks decidd that you did not need netbios, if you could reach a server.Unfortunately the MS interpretation of a server seems to be a dhcp server, which include the average router. So any machine on a router turns OFF its’ essential browsing services. If you set this and then make sure you have a folder or printer set shared on each machine, then open the exception for file and printer sharing on each and every machine can see every other. They can take 20 minutes or more to see each other originally.
you dont require any tool to perform this task.everything is already included in windows OS.
make workgroup (should be same in all the pc) and run network setup wizard from control panle.check your sharing settings for all the comp. and you are done.(you ahve to check/configure the firewall settings too if you are using any third party firewall).
