Nado asked: Hi,
I have one desktop PC with Windows XP Media Center 2005 installed on it and one HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed on it.
I need to network both machines together with crossover cable. Network card is ready on the desktop, crossover cable is ready.
What software configuration shall i make or what are the steps I should take since I always heard about issues and problems in networking XP with Vista.

Rudy asked: I have a linksys wireless G router connected to 2 desktop pcs (both with xp pro) and 1 laptop (on vista) The laptop disconnects and reconnects every few minutes or at least every hour. Is there something I can do to the laptop or the router settings to fix this?

What I am looking for is a wireless card that can pick up the wireless signal over a distance of 2 city blocks away. I have tried something called super G and also super G+, and neither one was strong enough to pick up the network. I can pick up the network on my notebook when I walk just outside my door, but it is gone for 2-3 weeks having the system board replaced (for the 3rd time).

classic_stump asked: Here’s the situation. I’m running XP on both my laptop and desktop and have a wireless home network. Up till now I use my laptop to edit photos in PS Elements, but my laptop hard drive is small and getting full of pictures. I want to be able to save/move all those pictures from my laptop to my desktop which has a much larger hard drive (I can even partition it to have a ‘D’ drive if I need to). I also want to be able to edit those same photos on my desktop just like I would if I were on my laptop by using PS Elements that is also installed on my desktop. In other words I need a single universal folder that I can upload/download my photos to and be able to edit them with either machine. My wife uses the laptop a lot and when I get some free time to do some picture editing it never fails that she is using it. Also, my laptop only has a CD burner and trying to back up all my photos will take a lot of CDs whereas my desktop has a DVD burner and backing them up that way would be a lot better. Can this be easily done so that both machines will recognize a “universal” picture folder?

mersonix asked: Hi, I have 3 desktop computers. 2 Desktop PCs are wireless (with PCI network cards) and the 3rd is Wired. The wired PC is runnning xp along with one of the wireless PCs. The other wireless PC is running vista.
Currently I can’t share files or printers among any of them. How can I file share among them? I have selected what folders to share but the other pcs don’t appear on the network map. I have downloaded the tool for xp pcs to connect to vista pcs.
help.
I have a router, all computers can connect to the internet, the 2 wireless used to be able to connect with each other but now they can’t. Please don’t be overly complicated, i’m not good at networking. Is there a guide for this?
